DO YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH ONSET PRODUCTION?

Yes I sure do! I worked in film for 7 years and I have worked onset on photoshoots for several years and have also got a lot of onset experience on big budget film sets both in Vancouver, London, Los Angeles and Iceland.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PHOTOGRAPHING FOR AND HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?

I've been taking photos for as long as I can remember but stared my professional career over a decade ago. I loved to take over the camera on family holidays as a child. I won my very first camera in a creative photography contest for my hometown at the age of fifteen and decided to learn Photoshop and Adobe right away and scored my first commissioned job. I moved to NZ in 2005 and finished a degree in Bachelor of Photography and Bachelor of Design majoring in Digital Media Design. I worked as a motion grapher and a graphic designer for an advertising agency in Iceland, a 3d modeller and a texture artist for Weta FX, New Zealand on various big budget films. I opened my own commercial studio downtown Wellington in 2014. This combination of experiences have helped me run my own business.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR BOOKING YOU?

Once we have talked about what it is that you’re looking for and we have established that I’m a good fit then we can make it official! I have a deposit (20% when you book and 80% after the shoot) and a contract that I’ll send to you with all of my Ts&Cs.

WHAT’S THE SECRET TO TAKING A GREAT PHOTOGRAPH?

When shooting Portraiture and Commercials involving people, it is very important to make the subject feel at ease and making sure everyone is comfortable. I give very detailed directions as I have already planned my shoot for a couple of days beforehand and generally know exactly what I am after. I never just "wing it" I tend to plan each frame I am trying to achieve and make sure the lighting is on point. It has taken me years to get to this point in my photography career.

WHAT QUESTION MIGHT YOU ASK A CLIENT WHEN STARTING A NEW PROJECT?

I like to get to know them a little and get a very clear idea of what kind of shoot they have in mind and what would be their ideal outcome. I spend more time on planning my shoots than actually shooting the subject. I like to make sure every detail is taken care of before the shoot day so we can have a relaxing smooth production on the day, here is where my experience plays a big part. I have worked on a very large scale film/photography sets and know what goes into a smooth operation.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?

I love meeting interesting people, and finding their best angles. I am a tech geek and enjoy playing around with my gear, light and shadows and creating something special and meaningful. I aim to create bold images with character and honesty.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START YOUR OWN BUSINESS?

I worked in film for 7 years before going out on my own. Whenever I wasn't working I would be either shooting or editing as that is my main passion, why not make that a full time job!? I wanted to be able to control my own hours and travel for work. So I went for it without thinking about it too much and never looked back!

WHEY SHOULD OUR CLIENTS CHOOSE YOU?

I started shooting as my main source of income about a decade ago, but I’ve been making pictures with cameras for as long as I can remember. I have a full studio including all the latest highest quality gear you can get today. I have a degree in Digital Media Design and I take at least 1-2 courses per year to keep upto date with all the latest technology. I am a confident photographer who delivers high quality work.

DO YOU OFFER VIDEO SERVICE

No, I am happy to team up with someone who specialises in that area though.

HOW MANY IMAGES DO YOU PROVIDE?

It varies on the type of session, a commercial session can start from 50 images depending on the package and a portrait session is usually 15-30 images for a 1-hour session. You’ll receive the files in an online gallery and you’ll be able to use them to D.I.Y. print or I can arrange this for you.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY IMAGES?

In our contract I say 3-4 weeks for a wedding but often it is much quicker and 1-2 weeks for a family/portrait session. I don’t want any client to ever feel like the wait is too long for receiving their photos so I always do my best to deliver them in the shortest amount of time possible.

CAN WE MEET BEFORE MAKING A DECISION?

Absolutely! I love hearing ideas and brainstorm before the actual shoot. It would be great to meet with you in person or over zoom.

WHAT CAMERA DO YOU USE?
